LOADING BAY PROTECTION: OPTICAL PARKING ASSISTANCE

Loading bays are the most hectic place within companies. Here the control of the two key parameters of the maneuvering of vehicles, namely alignment and reverse, make the real difference between efficiency in precision and speed of maneuver and the elimination of damages.

These are the different solutions to ensure maximum efficiency in this area:

Wheel Guides: to force vehicles to position themselves perfectly in the center of the loading bay, avoiding damaging external lateral sealants or infrastructures;

Opa System: optical parking assistance, to guide the driver in reverse and gradually lead him to the stop against the loading bay;

Dock Buffers: to cushion the impact of the vehicle against the loading bay;

Trolley Wheel Stop: to define the exact stopping point on the loading bay;

Wheel Stop Wedge: to stop the unauthorized departure of the vehicle.

To effectively protect a Loading Bay, a mixed information system must be set up, i.e. both physical and optical, which helps the transporter to receive information on the loading / unloading operations in an active and passive way, in order to operate safely in compliance with the regulations, avoiding any waste of time, damage to vehicles, buildings or goods.

To achieve excellent levels of safety, reliability and operational durability, these structures must be integrated with particular parking systems, such as the OPA System® by STOMMPY®, and Impact Safety Barriers to eliminate any damage due to a wrong positioning of the truck during the loading / unloading of goods.

The operating logic of the OPA System® is very simple and effective and, by the use of a common traffic light, it transmits the following information:

Green: the loading area is free and accessible.

Yellow: the trailer of the truck is 80 cm away from the loading / unloading platform.

Red: the trailer is ready for goods loading / unloading.

Green: the truck can leave the Loading Bay.

The standard version of the OPA System® involves the operator inside the plant who directly activates the green traffic light that gives the authorization to leave the loading bay, but there is also another version of the OPA System® that allows you to adjust the departure timing of the loading / unloading platform thanks to a "timer" installed in the control panel, easily adjustable according to the needs of the operations or the plant directives.

However, the operator inside the plant can still activate the "green light” at any time if necessary.

In combination with the Optical Parking System, we can add the Wheel Stop Wedge, an excellent safety device equipped with special sensor, designed for fixing the position of vehicles on the loading ramps.

By using the wireless technology, the Wheel Stop Wedge releases a visual signal when it detects the presence of the truck wheel, eliminating the risk of accidents due to an involuntary removal of the vehicle.

This system saves the cost of maintenance and repair of the constituent elements of the Loading Bays, ensuring a high level of Safety for the Personnel operating in the area, who no longer need to go out to communicate the "go-ahead" to the transporter.

Last but equally important is the increase in operational efficiency by optimizing the communication process.
